You can read about Belle Lamunion, 1864-1848, and her amazing box of family memories here. Belle married Henry H Fellows, 1858-1905 in 1879 in Ashland Township, Newaygo County, Michigan. She married Charles “Charlie” Tinker on 15 July 1914 in Cadillac, Wexford County, Michigan. The cast of characters is located here. There is an accounting of people about whom I have little information here.
When I took Belle’s Box to a reunion, several people took cards that were connected to their direct ancestors, and I am glad. I did take photos of as many of them as I could before they disappeared. This group of posts are those that I was able to photograph. There were duplicate photos so when I renumbered the photos to titles I could use, I deleted the dupes. Missing numbers do not mean missing items!

Dear Grandma
Hope you are fine Little George is home expect my folks home next Sat or in next week some time I received your letter fine But have not answered it yet so will with this card
Rachel
Rachel Belle Burgess 1916-1997, was the daughter of Hazel H. Fellows, 1894-1967, and her husband Alfred A. Burgess, 1887-1972. Hazel was Belle’ daughter. Rachel would have been just 13 when she wrote this card. As I have noted previously, many northern Michigan farmers left in the winter to seek work elsewhere. It appears that Rachel was in charge of the household and her younger brother, William, who would have been just 11 when this card was sent. Little George must have been George Fenton, 1912-2001, who would have been 17 at the time. I believe Rachel referred to him as “Little” to distinguish him from George Lamunion, Belle’s brother.
Can you imagine leaving two children this age alone for the winter? There were many relatives close by, and times were certainly different then.
