You can read about Belle Lamunion, 1864-1848, and her amazing box of family memories here. Belle married Henry H Fellows, 1858-1905 in 1879 in Ashland Township, Newaygo County, Michigan. The cast of characters is located here. And, there is an accounting of people about whom I have little information here.
When I took Belle’s Box to a reunion, several people took cards that were connected to their direct ancestors, and I am glad. I did take photos of as many of them as I could before they disappeared. This group of posts are those that I was able to photograph.

“May all the joys of this Christmas Season be with you through the New Year.”
What a nice message!
Liala May Carter, 1890-1958, was a niece of Belle’s. she was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Carter and Emily Alcinda Lamunion. Liala’s husband was Warren Burk Plotts, 1890-1958. Barbara L. Plotts was their daughter, born in 1920. So although there is no date on this card, I know it was send after 1920.
Laila and Burk had a son, Thurten C. Plotts who was born on 18 October 1918 and died on 19 October 1918. His cause of death was “axphyxia neonatorum” according to his death certificate. He is buried in Boon Eastside Cemetery, where may of his paternal family also rest.
From the National Institute of Health:
Asphyxia neonatorum (perinatal asphyxia) is the failure of a newborn to establish or sustain breathing at birth, causing severe oxygen and blood flow reduction to organs, especiall the brain, leading to hypoxic-ischemic encephalophy (HIE). Caused by placental dysfunction, infection, or umbilical cord complications, it presents as poor color, low muscle tone, and a low 5-minute Apgar score.
