This entry is part 339 of 342 in the series Belle's Box

Read about this series of posts, regarding items in a box originally owned by Belle (Lamunion) Fellows Tinker here. The cast of characters is located here. And, there is an accounting of people about whom I have little information here.

The numbering of these posts had been modified to signify that I am posting items from my archival book three, a three precedes the item number.

Even though there is some identification written on the back of this photo, it has not helped me identify the subject of the photo.

I can see it was taken March 8, 1—. But no amount of manipulation helps me decipher the text that precedes the date. Can you help?

Here is a photo of a nice man feeding a wild bird. I don’t know what bird it is, and I don’t know what man it is.

So, I really don’t know much.

There is no identification on this carte-de-visite except the name of the photographer.

Belle’s parents were Miranda Jones and Ruscum Lamunion. The Lamunion/Lemunion/Lemunyon family came to Michigan from New York as did the Jones family. The earliest record I have found for the Ruscum Lamunion family in Michigan is the 1870 census of Dorr Township, Allegan County. The latest New York record is the 1965 census of Manchester, Ontario County. The last New York record I have for Robert Jones, Miranda’s father is the 1860 census of MacEdon, Wayne County, New York. MacEdon is just west of Palmyra.

In my day dreams, I imagine that this is a photo of Belle’s mother, Miranda Jones Lamunion, in my nightmares, I don’t know who the nice lady is.

If you have a connection to the family of Robert Jones, or any of his children, please review your photographs and check for a matching one. Of course, in my day dreams your photo is marked with the name of the subject.

More on the Jones Family:

Robert Jones, b about 1796 in Massachusetts, married Savilla. He may have had a previous wife. I know of these children of Robert, the 26 years from the first know child to the last know child makes a second wife seem likely. There are probably more children, also.

Miranda/Maranda, female b. 26 January 1821, NY
Hezekiah, male, b about 1825, NY
Robert V. Jones, male, b May 1836, NY
Benjamin F. Jones, male, b about 1839, NY
George Jones, male, b about 1847, NY

I like to imagine that this photo is of Belle’s Father, Ruscum Lamunion, 1907-1991. There are pencil marks on the front and back of the photo, and I have done no restoration yet.

In reality, I have no idea who the subject of this photo is.

This picture is mounted on a stiff backing, similar to item 3-124. I do know on one branch of the family that were fruit farmers in southwestern lower Michigan. This photo seems to early to be the family I know of. I will ask at the reunion if anyone recognizes the photo.

Here are four guys. I do not know who they are, or why the photo was in Belle’s possession.

Today’s photos from Belle’s box are children. I have no identifying information for any of these, but will describe the photographs as well as I can.

3-56a

Here is a child and dog, I believe this is a little boy. It looks like the child is sitting on the dog, directly in front of a hedge. There are no markings on the back of this photo.

3-63

this photo of a little girl and a dog appears to be a little older than the previous one. It is a postcard, there is no writing on the reverse side.

3-76

This photo is also printed on a postcard. Cute, unknown infant.

3-81

Another post card. Look at the flowers behind these young men! They look enough alike to be brothers, but I have no clue who they may be.

This photo may be a father and two daughters, or perhaps a couple and their daughter. Stretching my imagination once gain, perhaps it is a three-generation photograph of a grandfather, his daughter and granddaughter. Once again, I have no idea who the subjects are.

Venturing again into the great unknown.

This looks like a young couple and a father. What couple, whose father–a mystery of the box.

3-91

A group of ladies, friends, relatives, enemys? Your guess is as good as mine.

3-115

Two children playing. These toys, the nice doll and tricycle, do not remind us of Papa’s ancestors. Perhaps these are the more well-to-do relatives.

3-117

The broken screen and stoop, the worn clothing and siding. This is more like our ancestors. But we don’t recognize them either.

3-120

Please let me know if you know anything about these people, or have matching photos.
