Several years ago, I came in contact with a descendant of the Schutte family. She was kind enough to send me a couple of photos from her collection, photos of Belle. She said her family had been good friends of Belle, and it is obvious from this collection, in which many of the cards originate from the Schutte family. She has also shared obituaries in a scrapbook that her grandmother and mother kept. How nice to to find such kind people!

At some time in the future I will post scans of the photo shared with me, and some other information.

Another greeting from Belle’s neighbors, the Schuttes. On her birthday, July 15, 1946, Belle would have turned 82 years old. She passed away on August 27, 1948 at the age of 84 years.

Valentine’s day card, from neighbors Carl and Dorothy Schutte. Based on a previous note from members of the family this card was probably sent in the 1940′s, before Belle’s death in 1948.

The Schutte’s were neighbors of Belle and Charlie. Descendants of their daughter Dorothea continue to own property in Colfax Township, Wexford County, Michigan.  I sent a copy of this card to a member of the family of the sender and received this reply:

“The Christmas card is from my grandparents John and Louise (Freund) Schutte and Dorothea is my mom. They are all deceased. Mom’s brother Karl got married in 1931, so it’s between 1931 and 1946 when Mom got married. Grandpa Schutte died in 1947 and Grandma in 1953.  Most probably sent in the 40′s is my guess…”
