In July, 2007, Papa and I spent a week in Pennsylvania, searching for information on his elusive Warren ancestors. One day, we drove south through Pittsburgh to this very large cemetery where some of his ancestors are buried.

I wrote a letter to this cemetery in April, 2001, inquiring about Papa’s ancestors, James and Emily (Leach) Cowling. The cemetery replied as follows: The only information given was they were removed from another cemetery and a stone with names on were put in Sec B range 14, lot 41 grave 1…..(the) date died Oct 15, 1910 was listed as both.

The Morris lot looked like this when we arrived that hot July day in 2007. The second marker of four in a row was tipped, and it appeared that a marker might be missing in the front. You can see the lot marker identifying the lot as owned by the Morris family. The lot is located on the side of a very steep hill.

The tipped stone, second from the left marked the grave of Walter Morris, 1946-1911.

Walter’s wife’s grave is the third from the left, Mary Ethel Ella Cowling,1846-1921, a daughter of James and Emily Cowling.

The fourth grave is Robert James Morris, 1869-1898.
