Hi – I am looking for some information on this couple as well – they are my maternal great-great grandparents. I would like to see where they are both from – any information you can pass along would be great!
    Thanks!

Hi, Brooke. Michael Patrick Long was born 3 June 1879 in Ellice Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. He died on 22 November, 1952, in Cadillac, Wexford, Michigan, USA. Michael was my first cousin, 3 times removed.

His parents were Bernard (Benjamin) Long, b. 8 Aug 1837 in Alsace-Lorraine, France and d 27 Feb 1913 in Cadillac, Wexford, Michigan, USA and Lucy Riley, b about 1842, Ireland, and died 29 April 1903 in Huron County, Ontario, Canada.

His father had at least 5 siblings, one of whom was Elizabeth Long, 1834-1921. Elizabeth was my 2nd great-grandmother. She married William Kaiser and the couple eventually migrated to Cadillac, Wexford, Michigan.

Michael’s grandparents were Joseph Long, b. about 1800, France and Mary Myers b. in France. This couple were my 3rd-great grandparents. Joseph Long and Mary Myers are the ancestors we have in common, you would be my 4th cousin, once removed, if I worked it out correctly.

There are early death records available at [http://www.seekingmichigan.org], which can help with the family. The records on Ancestry World Edition contain some of the pertinent Canadian records, you library may have that subscription available.

You can e-mail me from my contact page [http://www.warrenweb.info/contact/], if you would like to share more information. Best of luck in your research!
