Belle’s Box – 3-29

This entry is part 283 of 342 in the series Belle's Box

Read about this series of posts, regarding items in a box originally owned by Belle (Lamunion) Fellows Tinker here. The cast of characters is located here. And, there is an accounting of people about whom I have little information here.

The numbering of these posts had been modified to signify that I am posting items from my archival book three, a three precedes the item number.

3-29

OBITUARY

Mrs. Anne Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McCrea, was born in Ireland, Feb. 1842 and came with her parents to New York State at the age of three, where she lived until her marriage in 1859 to Robert Jones, who preceded her eleven years ago. In 1860 they settled in Dorr township, where five children were born to them, two dying in infancy.

Early in life she was converted, and was a member of the United Brethren church, until she moved to Moline, where she united with the M.E. Church. She passed away on March 13, at her late home in Moline, leaving to morn her loss, one daughter, Mrs. Ida Jordan of Moline, two sons, Edwin Jones of Charlevoix and Kiah Jones of Moline, fourteen grand-children, ten great-granddaughter.

Funeral services are to be held Friday morning at ten o’clock, at the Moline Congregational church. Charles A. Clay, Minister of the church officiating, and Mrs. Clara Gosling furnishing the music.

I sure wish the little clipping had a year on it. Although I had reconstructed some of Jones family relationships to Belle’s family, there is some help here. I am suprised to see that Anne Jones had fourteen grandchildren, I hadn’t found nearly that many. Knowing Edwin moved to Charlevoix will help me in my search.

This clipping will certainly help me keep up with the Joneses on Papa’s family tree!
