The Oakland County Genealogical Society November meeting is Tuesday, November 4th at 7 p.m. Due to a conflict, there has been a change of topic and speaker. The topic will be: "Are you a Vintage Photo Fan?"
Ceil Went Jensen, CG and local Arcadia Publishing author (and former photo and photo history teacher), shares the process and secrets of planning, collecting and writing a local pictorial history. She will show examples from her three Arcadia books: Detroit’s Polonia; Detroit’s Mount Elliott Cemetery, and Detroit’s Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Come and learn how to incorporate vintage photos into your family history.
Exciting news: Our just published, hot off the presses, highly anticipated publication, tombstone transcriptions of the Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac Michigan will be available at the meeting! This book has been 7 years in the making, and contains tombstone transcriptions of all cemetery sections.
The Oakland County Genealogical Society meets at 7:00 p.m. monthly from October through June on the first Tuesday (except January) at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5500 North Adams (between Long Lake and Square Lake roads), Troy. The Church has a flat entrance and ample lighted parking.
Meetings are open to the public and free of charge. All are welcome.
Because the election is the same evening, we will be meeting in church sanctuary; please use the front door, rather than the rear door. If needed, additional parking is available across Adams road at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. If you park there, please exercise caution crossing the road.
