  1. Hi, Robert, thanks for the comment. I am not aware of any Joseph & Margaret Johnston in my family. Where did you family Johnston family live? Mine was in Huron County, Ontario, Canada.

Have you come across a John Johnston and Mary Johnston in Huron, Ontario? Son John Johnston b 1844 m. Margaret Humes. Their son, Willis Albert Johnston appears age 1 1/2 months on 1871 Census, Town Grey, Huron County, Ontario in Humes household with his parents. We believe John died soon after as Margaret marries Robert Berger and moves to Michigan. Willis Albert is my ggf.

  2. Thanks for the comment, Maureen.

I believe I may have found them and ruled them out as my immediate family. There sure were/are a lot of John Johnstons! I wonder how many residents of Grey Township, Huron County, Ontario, moved on to Michigan? My hometown of Cadillac had many, and both sides of my maternal grandmother’s family lived in Grey Township before heading west.
